Sheats-Goldstein Residence

Walking up the Santa Monica Mountains, the staircase appears to be levitating due to the cantilevered large-aggregate-concrete steps. From the top of these steps peer down upon the expanse of Los Angeles; but from below stare up into the tropical jungle-like landscape. Wandering gazes anticipate an unseen transcending architectural treasure, in 1963 John Lautner designed The Sheats-Goldstein Residence for Helen and Paul Sheats. The property is featured in several iconic Hollywood films, including Bandits, The Big Lebowski, and Charle’s Angeles: Full Throttle.
